Kollect offers the deaf community 21st century solutions to booking their own Bin Collection

Kollect offers the deaf community 21st century solutions to booking their own Bin Collection

Last week was a first in the Kollect HQ. A new customer who is a member of the deaf community in Ireland needed some information about our services. This customer was very interested to learn more about our pay-as-you-go bin collection services and unfortunately the usual method of making a call was not an option for them.

Giving The Deaf Community Alternative Solutions

However, here at Kollect's new accounts department, we have Pat who is fluent in ISL (Irish sign language). By using FaceTime, Pat was able to communicate with our customer. She received all the information in her first language ISL and was over the moon that she was able to book in her first bin collection with Kollect. Kollect also include the option to book a bin for collection by text message once the account is set up.

Irish Sign Language is the first and/or preferred language of 5000 Deaf people in Ireland and approximately 40,000 people in general will communicate in ISL (family, friends, co-workers, etc).

Kollect are very happy to offer alternative methods for our customers to contact us. If any member of the deaf community would like to know more about our collection services, please send us a message on our Facebook page here, or on our website here and we can arrange a video call for you, whether you use Facetime, Skype, Whatsapp, we will do our best to communicate with you.

Why Kollect is Different?

  1. We offer flexible Pay-As-You-Go Bin Collection from €6!
  2. You don't have to sign up to any contracts! (We personally hate them ourselves)
  3. You don't need to set up a direct debit! "Yippee" we hear you say!!
  4. You can Book Online, Pay by text, Pay over the Phone or in the Shop!
  5. We save households up to 40% off Annual Bin charges, especially smaller households and infrequent users!
  6. Only pay when your bin is full! (Which helps the environment)
  7. Our helpful Customer Service team is available 7 days a week by phone and online chat! Hallelujah!

Where The Idea Came From...

Kollect first blossomed in 2015 after one of our Co-founders had the brain-wave of creating a better system for Bin Collection. John hated putting out a half full bin every week, yet pay the same as his neighbour who had a full bin. Why should I, he thought?

Kollect's business model has evolved since then and is now similar to Uber, the on-demand taxi platform, but instead of moving people, we move waste. Kollect have a national network of trusted independent waste contractors for Junk removal, Bin Collection and Skip Hire.

They offer jobs out to the network via our platform as we receive them from our customers. Jobs are accepted by the nearest and best suited waste provider with spare capacity. Kollects platform connects them with our Service Partners as they undertake the jobs, so we can closely monitor and track how the job is progressing, and keep customers updated.
