Why Waterford Rocks (Waves, and Beaches, and Trees)

I was recently asked a question by the Waterford News & Star newspaper “ “What is your favourite thing about living in Waterford? It's only when you really think about that question, that it sinks in how lucky we have it here. If an opportunity arose to move Kollect anywhere else in the world, we wouldn't take it, and there are so many reasons for that.

First and foremost, this is not far off Dreamland, and before you scoff at that, try living 200 miles away from the nearest beach or mountain. At any moment we can decide to head off to the beach, the mountains, the forest, the Greenwayall at a moment's notice and all within about 10 miles of the office. Our pubs (Revolution, Tully's, O Grady's Yard) and restaurants (La Boheme, Everetts, Momo) are second to none so it really feels like we're ready for the population explosion (or at least mini eruption) that the Government are predicting.

From our point of view though, Waterford and the South East is a haven for tech innovation, mainly thanks to entrepreneurs (like us!), Crystal Valley Tech, Box Works and the innovation machine that is TSSG at WIT.

I think there are about 30 (or more) local tech companies in Waterford, four of which received funding of over €1m in recent years. The city and county has become an incubator for start-ups and it's hard to put a price on being surrounded by so many like minded people.
