We can all take steps to live a more sustainable life. Whether it's a big step or a small step, every little bit helps.
When it comes to being more sustainable, we can all take small steps to help make a big difference. Here at Kollect, we are always conscious of our carbon footprint, and the impact our actions can have on the environment. Below are our 7 top tips to being more sustainable:
1. Go Paperless
Instead of getting your statements, bills and receipts in paper form, why not opt to go paper-free and get them emailed to you? By cutting down your paper consumption, you are reducing paper waste at home and at work.
2. Meat-Free Mondays
Cut down your meat consumption by opting to go meat-free one day of the week. It is said that cutting out meat for at least 1 day a week will reduce water usage, greenhouse gas emissions and fuel dependence.
3. Swap Coffee Cup for Keep Cup
When buying your morning coffee, why not skip on the styrofoam coffee cup and use a keep cup? There are lots of benefits when it comes to investing in a keep cup, for example - less plastic waste, less rubbish on your desk or in your car, and some coffee shops even take a small amount off the price of your coffee if you present them with your keep cup.
4. Cut Out Plastic Cutlery
Why not trade plastic cutlery for bamboo cutlery when on the go? Bamboo cutlery is reusable, lightweight, and most importantly is environmentally friendly.
5. Buy Loose Fruit and Veg Instead of in Bags
By choosing to buy loose fruit and veg, as opposed to packaged products can reduce the amount of plastic waste produced, therefore reducing your carbon footprint.
6. Donate Old Clothes/Items
Donating old clothes, furniture and toys not only helps out people in need but also helps the environment by diverting these items that are not biodegradable from landfills.
7. Swap Plastic Bags for Tote Bags
Swap out single-use plastic bags and plastic “bag for life bags for more durable, environmentally friendly cloth tote bags. By doing this, you will reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, and have bags that will last longer compared to plastic bags.
