What is the Stay at Home Upcycle Challenege?
#stayathomeupcyclechallenge

It’s simple! We’re challenging you to unearth the imagination within and create something new out of something old…to breathe new life into an old or unwanted item or material. The challenge is an item of your choice from 'destined for the bin, to guaranteed win!!

So if you can find something old and renovate it or turn it into something completely different but still usable, then we want to see it! Whether it's painting an old piece of furniture, decorating a wine bottle to use as a candlestick holder - whatever it is, we will love it. Entry form at the bottom of the page.

So why is it important that we reuse old materials or turn them into something else? Reusing has numerous environmental benefits. It helps to save energy, limits pollution, conserves natural resources and also reduces greenhouse gases emission.

The brilliant Vintage Irish Kat is not letting lockdown prevent her from her from making the most of her time at home. She created this amazing Tiki bar in her garden from wood she found in a skip and added the bamboo that she had from her old fence, she then added a few accessories and voila she has herself a cool new bar out the back. How resourceful is that!! Check her out on instagram here.

Be Creative

Get your thinking cap on and hunt out something old or unwanted that you could upcycle. Think of that chair that would look better painted or that teddy that you could repair. Anything is possible! Maybe get the kids involved.

Be Resourceful

Being resourceful is reusing, reducing and recycling. We want you to think outside the box, is there something you could redesign or repair so that you can reuse it again? We want you to breathe new life into an old or unwanted item or material.

Be Cratfy

Now is a good time to be crafty and get out all the materials you will need for your upcycle project, what will you need? Glue? Paint? Buttons? Wallpaper? Just start putting a list of things together to plan your genius idea.

Be Influential

Now is your time to shine and become the influencer you have always wanted to be. Your contribution is promoting reusing, reducing and recycling. Please take a before photo and an after photo of your upcycle, we want to see all the photos so you better get the camera.
