We will look into 9 simple tips that are very easy to do and can become healthy habits for the future. If you as a customer of Kollect pick up one or two of these tasks then we see that as a great success!

Let's get into these tips..

  • Learn the Rules of Recycling
  • This is a very easy starting point for people to change behaviour towards the amount of waste that they produce in their homes, learning the simple recycling tips can create a healthy habit in your home. Reduce, ReUse & Recycle.
  • Stop using Plastic Bags
  • One of the easiest ways to reduce the waste from your home is to avoid the use of single use plastic bags, these bags can cause huge damage to the environment and with these single use plastic bags they cannot be recycled.
  • Plan your Meals
  • Food waste is one of the most common types of waste that is produced from a household. A very simple way for you to combat the food waste problem in your home is to plan your meals throughout your week. Using this strategy can fully combat the food waste problem but creating a meal plan for your family can save you money on your food bill along with reducing your household waste.
  • Using Reusable Containers
  • The goal for each household is to be able to create a fully sustainable environment within your own home, this is a goal that each household should be leaning towards in the near future. Using reusable containers can also help you with your meal preparation throughout your week, continuing to use reusable containers can also go a long way in reducing your household waste. This can also be incredibly helpful when it comes to organising your kitchen area.
  • Start composting
  • Every day, a large amount of what you throw into the trash could be composted and returned to the earth. If you have a bin and some extra space, you can easily start a compost that could feed back into your garden. Your excess food won’t go to waste, your garden will be full of nutrients and you can feel better about your impact on the planet. Win, win, win.
  • Learn to repair, Rather than discarding
  • Another fantastic way to reduce waste from your home, this tip can give you hours of fun as the thrifty people among us already know. When you have a pair of jeans with a rip in them, why not sow them back together, why not create a patch to go over the rip, you can go all the way and earn some style points by bedazzling some jeans or hoodies or even a jacket. This is a very creative way to make sure that as a household we create less waste.
  • No Junk Mail
  • Very simple request but also very environmentally friendly options, not only do we create large amounts of household waste because we all end up throwing out takeaway menus or leaflets, not many of us enjoy getting them anyway so why not stop and save yourself the wastage and help the environment with your choice.
  • Stop using disposable items
  • Using items that are disposable such as paper plates or plastic knives and forks can cause great harm to the environment, we want to make sure that each member of the Kollect family understands that following this simple tip can drastically reduce the amount of household waste that we produce.
  • Stop buying plastic Water Bottles
  • This is a very sensitive topic among people of the world at the minute, single use plastic water bottles can cause great harm to the environment, we as a population should always have the worlds health at the forefront of our minds and need to understand that if we want future generations to succeed then we must be willing to make sacrifices to help that future become reality.
