Skip Hire FAQs

Do I have to be there to meet the driver?

No, we do not require you to be there. Please make sure to communicate with our staff prior to the delivery of the skip any specific instructions you may have regarding where you would like it placed. Also, please make sure that the driver of the lorry that will be collecting the skip will have access on the day that it will be removed.

The delivery, collection, and removal of your waste are all included in the cost of renting the skip. If you are looking for an alternative solution, why don’t you give our junk removal solution with a man and a van a shot? It is cheaper than skip hire and we do all the hard work for you so you don’t have to.

We provide skips, but not the labour to load them. If you require assistance loading your skip, you might find it more convenient to hire our man with a van junk removal service instead. It’s less expensive than skip rental and we handle all the loading for you.

You can only fill your skip to the height of the sides; otherwise, the skip delivery driver may refuse to pick it up. This is due to the dangers of driving with an overloaded skip. Penalties may be applied to an overloaded skip or contents may have to be removed.

Skips are made for non-hazardous waste removal, not the removal of specialty items. If you have hazardous waste that needs to be disposed of, you are required to have special permits and skip containers. It is against the law for you to combine wastes of different types, especially hazardous waste with nonhazardous waste.

The main items prohibited includes:

  • Batteries
  • Food waste
  • Gas bottles & cylinders
  • Computer Monitors
  • Explosives
  • Other dangerous chemicals

Getting rid of accumulated rubbish, unwanted fixtures, or outdated stock frequently necessitates the use of skips. A skip can be used to deliver or remove materials for building, remodelling, or demolition waste for customers. Skips are also utilised for large-scale cleanups and in locations where non-hazardous waste has accumulated, such as factories, malls, schools and hotels. The removal of non-hazardous waste, such as construction debris, household products, and green waste, is accomplished through the use of skips.

The skip is yours to keep for five days. If the stay is any longer than this, additional fees may be incurred. If you decide later that you need the skip for longer please call the office and we can make an amendment for you on your collection date.

No — adding waste to someone else’s skip without permission is illegal and could lead to fines or legal action.

Yes — clothes, furniture, carpets, and general household waste are fine. Avoid hazardous waste, liquids, and food scraps

Standard furniture is fine, but upholstered items like sofas are classed as POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants) and often need a dedicated skip.

An overfilled skip is unsafe — waste can fall out and cause injury. The driver may refuse collection until the excess is removed.

Never fill above the top edges. Overfilling can lead to extra charges or delays in collection.

A 6-yard skip typically holds 50–60 bin bags — or around three standard sofas.

Don’t take our word for it.
